Exploring the Future of Steel Architecture with BlueScope at ARCH:ID 2025
09 May 2025
PT NS BlueScope Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Indonesia’s architecture and construction industry by actively participating in ARCH:ID 2025, held on Friday, 9 May 2025, at ICE BSD, Tangerang. This participation reflects BlueScope’s ongoing dedication to promoting innovative and sustainable steel applications in modern architectural practices.
One of the key highlights of the event was the Steel Architecture Award (SAA) Talk Series: Unveiling Excellence, which featured the winners of SAA 2024. The session provided a platform for architects to share their creative processes and design approaches in utilizing steel materials — including COLORBOND® — to deliver projects that balance aesthetics, smart efficiency, community contribution, and long-term sustainability.
The discussion was attended by notable figures in the architecture and construction sector, including James Li, VP Business Transformation NS BlueScope Pte., Ar. Gregorius Budi Julianto, Chairman of the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI), and Irfan Fauzie, VP Marketing & Sales PT NS BlueScope Indonesia. The talk series emphasized the four core evaluation criteria of the SAA: design aesthetics, smart efficiency, environmental sustainability, and community impact.
Adding to the exhibition’s appeal, BlueScope also unveiled an architectural installation titled Performative Archipelago, designed by IAI architect Alvar Mensana. The installation, crafted using COLORBOND® steel, served as a creative interpretation of Indonesia’s archipelagic landscape while showcasing the design possibilities of modern coated steel. It became one of the most engaging visual attractions throughout the exhibition.
In this event, BlueScope also officially introduced the next phase of the Steel Architecture Award program for 2025–2026, which includes:
Expanding award categories to embrace a broader range of building typologies
Launching a mentorship program for young architects to encourage steel-based design exploration
Organizing a travelling exhibition of SAA finalist works across major cities in Indonesia
Hosting the official launch of SAA 2026 at several national architectural forums
Beyond the talk series and installation, visitors of the BlueScope booth also had the opportunity to explore a diverse portfolio of products from BondPartner NS BlueScope Indonesia — a collaborative platform that supports brand partnerships between Steel Supplied by BlueScope and partner brands utilizing premium coated steel solutions.
BlueScope’s participation at ARCH:ID 2025 stands as a testament to its active role in fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainable design solutions within Indonesia’s architectural landscape.
